A Prayer for You
“And this is my
prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full
insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you
may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that
comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.”
(Philippians
1:9-11, NRSV)
The quoted
prayer from Paul’s letter to the Philippian believers was one of encouragement
and strength. When the recipients read this letter, they discovered that it
began with a prayer from Paul’s heart. When we begin our visits with others
with an attitude of prayer, we will encourage them in ways we may not do so
otherwise. Prayer is a strong encourager; it provides the right strength and
encouragement at the right time. You may not actually ‘pray with’ everyone you
meet personally, but you can silently in your heart. When you have the
opportunity to pray for or with someone, do it. It may be the very thing they
need at that very moment. Imagine how much more fruitful and rich our
relationships could be if we spent more time praying for others.
Be still…Trent
