Monday Refuel...Controlling our Minds

Controlling our Minds

"I will meditate on your precepts
    and fix my eyes on your ways.
I will delight in your statutes;

    I will not forget your word."

(Psalm 119:15-16, ESV)

When something is on our minds and all we can do is think about it, we are consumed by it. The thought or situation is constantly before us daily. Everything we do has to do with our way of thinking. How we think and what we think about will determine our actions in most cases.

Our mind is powerful and it has an immediate effect on our way of life. But, we can have an impact on our mindsets as we go through life. The things we decide to dwell on matter. They matter to us in many ways; our joy, happiness, health, stress levels, our choices, and even our maturity depends on our frame of mind.

The scripture I have shared at the beginning of this article has a lot to do with our way of thinking. When we take the time to meditate on God's word, we remember it. When we 'fix' our thoughts on God and his ways, we will want to be more like him.

Taking the time to read our Bibles and mediating on what we are reading will change our way of thinking.

This will, in time, change the way we live. Begin small and simple as you grow closer to God and gain control of your thinking. Read it, meditate on it, and reflect on how it can change you.

Read it...Trent
