Powerlessness and Presence

"How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights."

(Psalm 34:7-8,NRSV)

When we face adverse circumstances that we don't know what to do about, we turn to human wisdom and often try to fix it.  We don't like what we are experiencing and we want it to go away.  Soon we often discover that we are powerless in the face of trials and we finally give in to trying to fix it.  We have a God who loves us and is willing to provide a refuge for us in the midst of pain and discomfort.

It is in time and patience that we begin to feast on his presence and drink from his fountain of life.  While the darkness hovers, we will see a ray of light coming from his presence in all the circumstances we face.
