Freedom in Christ
For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand
firm, therefore,
and do not submit again to a yoke of
slavery.
(Galatians 5:1, NRSV)
The freedom we have
in Christ is a gift from Christ himself.
We can accept this gift by submitting our lives to him or we can reject
it by living in our own way. Once we
begin to see life on the ‘other side’ by accepting this freedom, we will never
turn back. We have to ask ourselves if
we want to live free in Christ or do we desire to be ‘bound’ to human desires? The fear of such freedom in Christ is what
holds a lot of us back. We often fear of
what it will be like on the ‘other side’.
I had this particular fear in me for many years in ministry; it held me
back and had its way with my daily life.
I had a deep fear of rejection as I made daily life and ministry
choices. The only thing that could
overcome such a fear is our freedom in Christ.
Once you overcome the
fears with the love and freedom in Christ, the Spirit takes you on the ride of
your life! You will begin to love people
from all walks of life. The lines once
drawn in the sand will be no more.
Freedom in Christ is valid with an immovable dependence upon the Spirit
of God (Romans 8:1-11). When we spend
time in his Word, we will grow to have a hunger for more of God. We will begin
to listen more instead of depending on our feeble words. When we begin to recognize prayer as a
lifetime practice and not only a moment in time, we will hear God more.
Freedom in Christ
changes you from the inside out and you can do nothing about it but to accept
it or reject it. You will soon learn
that you belong to no one but Christ, and it is his approval that matters
most. Focus on him and he will set you
free!
Freedom in Christ is
life and it will change the way you see…
