"The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you."
a stronghold in times of trouble.
And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you."
(Psalm 9:9-10, ESV)
When we encounter a circumstance in life that presents us with a challenge or a very uncomfortable trial, we begin to look for strength.
Where do we begin to look when we need strength for the days ahead? What kind of support do we need when facing the various circumstances that life brings to us? The support and strength that we need has to be a sustaining source.
The strength that sustains us is the kind that will carry us through the fire, the valley, and the dark days ahead.
When we spend time in prayer with God and read his word, we gain a strength that we can't receive anywhere else. We may try many things to erase or numb the pain, but it will only be a temporary relief.
Meditating on God's presence and that fact that he will never leave us gives us strength. Placing our focus on what God has done for us will give us the desire to overcome life's trials. When we know our God by spending time with him, the trials of life may come, but they will not destroy us. When we 'know' that God is there, we will stay the course with him. God is our stronghold at all times, we can seek refuge in him at all times. When our trust is placed in God and in God alone, we have a hope that looks beyond the current trials in our lives.
Trust and stay the course....Trent
