Chasing God in the midst of Doubt?.....

The fears and doubts that arise within the heart of a God chaser are numerous.  The spiritual journey of the chaser is one of confidence, submission, and self detatchment. This is where the battle ground lies between self and submission. I recently read this quote and began to realize its value in the midst of such a journey.
"...as we grow in faith we also tend to grow in this sense of our own helplessness, so that a man who believes much may, at the same time, in this improper sense, seem to 'doubt' more than ever before."
(Thomas Merton, New Seeds of Contemplation , pg. 134)
The birth of questions and doubts is a sign of learning and exploration.  May we never forsake the leap of faith into the world of learning and exploring.  True intelligence is born from ones ability to explore and discover with their own eyes and ears. Always ask questions and never settle for a mere transfer of information. The journey continues....
