Monday Refuel...Preserve Me, O God!

 Preserve Me, O God!

Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
Psalm 16:1-2

When you are enjoying a beautiful day at the lake, the pool, the creek, or the pond; what happens when someone suddenly calls for help from the water? There are a few things that usually happen; someone responds by entering the water to help, or a life preserver or float is thrown out to them. Help is on the way to the one calling for help almost immediately.

When we are walking with God on a daily basis and growing in his word and prayer, we know we can always call on him for help.

Our God is our life preserver at all times. God is ready to save us when we call on him. The way that he saves us may be different than what we had in mind. One thing we learn as we walk with God daily is that he keeps his promise of being there for us at all times.

Knowing that God is there is a comfort to us when we walk through the seasons of life. God's presence enables us to see past the circumstances in our lives. We are enabled by God's Spirit that lives within us, to grow through the experiences in our lives.

Here is a small, simple practice that may help us in remembering that God is our life preserver. Begin by saying small one word or one-phrase prayers of scripture and see what it does for you. Prayer and scripture sustains the soul and gives us the strength we need to face the days ahead.

Love, serve, be.....Trent
