Knowing God
(I John 4:7, NRSV)
When we make the choice to love
others, we are growing in our relationship with God. Loving others is a part of
the fabric of our being. If we want to grow in our walks with God, we can do so
by loving others daily. God is the source of real love; all other places that
we look for love are temporary. God’s love is eternal because God
is eternal.
Everything about God is love.
Everything about life centers on love. When our love for others becomes a
priority in our life, we will begin to see God’s presence in their lives and in
ours. We come to know God through our love for others. Love is foundational to
God’s nature.
Love is central to everything. Where love is absent, life is also
absent. Where love is present, there is life.
Spend some time this week looking
at your own life. Do you love others daily? Are you getting to know God by
loving others? Look closely and honestly at your life, not at the lack of love
in others. It begins with us!
