Monday Refuel; Sharing a Meal

Sharing a Meal

Your words were found, and I ate them,
and your words became to me a joy
and the delight of my heart,
for I am called by your name,
    Lord, God of hosts.

   (Jeremiah 15:16, ESV)

When we sit down for a nice, warm meal with our families, it comforts us on many levels. The food we partake of nourishes our bodies and we spend quality time with those we love. Think about the joy and the strength we receive in this setting. When we see what it does for us, we will want to take the time to make it happen again. It will become an important part of our daily life. You will make it happen more often.

What about feeding and strengthening our souls? Do we make it a daily practice to sit down and share a meal with God? When we discover what spending time with God does to our souls, we will return often. We will not know the benefits from it if we don't learn to practice it first.

Sharing a meal with God involves our time, attention, heart, and commitment. Learning to put this into practice daily is a journey for all of us. We have to begin where we are personally in our life. Start small, simple, and take it one step at a time. Begin with one or two verses from scripture; read it a few times during the day, pray it, and let it become a part of you for the day. Make this simple and you won't give up, you will grow at your own pace. Everyone is different and is growing at different levels in life. Don't rush yourself or become frustrated when you're not as consistent as you would like. Just stay with it and you will see God cause the growth in you.

Read, pray, ponder.....Trent
